Coherent Corp. is a global maker of engineered materials, optical networking components and lasers for the datacom and telecom, industrial, electronics and instrumentation markets. It was founded in 1971 in Pennsylvania as II-VI Incorporated and took the Coherent name in September 2022 after acquiring Coherent, Inc. Headquartered in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, it employed about 51,000 people at 30 June 2026, most of them in manufacturing in the Asia-Pacific region.
